Professor Andrew Leitch and his group is researching the relationship between plant genomes and plant survival, hoping to predict patterns resulting from climate and other anthropogenic changes.
This group of researchers are analysing taxonomic, ecological and genetic information for thousands of plants across Britain and Ireland. Previously impossible research methods have been made possible by PhD Student Marie Henniges who built a computer analysable database comprising of 3,227 plant species. This will allow the effects of climate change on biodiversity to be tracked and possibly mitigated.
