Your very generous donations enabled a group of Barts and The London students, to hold their very own on-campus conference. A grant of £2,000 from the Annual Fund helped us put together a day of presentations to over 50 delegates – it was a very successful day thanks to your support!
SPiCE (Student Partners in Clinical Education) is an educational programme designed to promote student empowerment by developing working relationships with academics and clinical staff. It aims to give us, students, the opportunity to be involved in research, peer-reviews, present and publish our work.
Our key aim was to have a conference of student ideas where students are the teachers for the day! We wanted to offer students in the School of Medicine and Dentistry the opportunity to develop their ideas, present their work, all while improving their skill sets. 24 students presented on their chosen topic on the day!
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Delegates enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the students presenting and the breadth of topics offered. Presenters enjoyed the opportunity to present and appreciated the relaxed and supportive environment.

Overall, SPiCE was a success! It was an inspiring day and it gave students a real opportunity to engage in presenting at a conference. The environment was relaxed and friendly yet professional and engaging. The quality of the presentations was exceptional and inspiring. We are incredibly grateful to our alumni for supporting the work of SPiCE and making our project so successful – thank you!
