Join Old Londoner, Dr Peter Dean (The London, Dentistry BDS, 1975; Medicine MBBS, 1982) for a special talk on Wednesday 13 February exploring the science and discovering the real story behind the man that was Joseph Merrick.

Having qualified in both dentistry and medicine, Dr Dean trained as a General Practitioner and while working in an East London practice, started working part-time as a Forensic Medical Examiner with the Metropolitan Police. After further legal studies, he practised Clinical Forensic Medicine for over 25 years and recently retired as Senior Coroner for Suffolk.

Dr Dean has a particular interest in the historical development of forensic medicine and has advised on the forensic aspects of television drama series such as Silent Witness, Waking the Dead, Ripper Street, Midsomer Murders and Whitechapel. Peter has extensive experience of lecturing on a range of subjects and this evening talk promises to be fascinating.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception in the Old Library in the Garrod Building on our Whitechapel campus.
