Alumni are invited to our fourth Annual Alumni Reception at the House of Lords on Wednesday 23 October 2019. This event is open to all alumni of Queen Mary, Westfield, Barts and The London Hospital medical and dental schools, and from all years and disciplines. Hosted by Lord Tim Clement-Jones CBE, Chair of Queen Mary Council, the evening will provide a unique opportunity for alumni to visit this prestigious building and meet up with their contemporaries. Alumni will also have the opportunity to meet the President and Principal of Queen Mary University of London, Professor Colin Bailey, who will update them on recent developments at the University.This exclusive event, to be held from 6 – 9pm, will include a reception in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace overlooking the Thames, where drinks and canapés will be served. Please note that guided tours will be available subject to confirmation, depending on the business of the House.Tickets are priced at £60 per person. BusinessLord Tim Clement-Jones CBE is a Consultant of the global law firm DLA Piper where former positions held include London Managing Partner (2011-16), Head of UK Government Affairs, Chairman of its China and Middle East Desks, International Business Relations Partner and Co-Chairman of Global Government Relations. PoliticalLord Clement-Jones was Chairman of the Association of Liberal Lawyers 1982-86 and then of the Liberal Party from 1986-88 and played a major part in the merger with the Social Democratic Party to form the Liberal Democrats. He was made CBE for political services in 1988. He was the Chairman of the Liberal Democrats Finance Committee from 1989-98 and Federal Treasurer of the Liberal Democrats from 2005-10. Tim was made a life peer in 1998 and until July 2004 was the Liberal Democrat Health Spokesman and thereafter until 2010 Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Culture, Media and Sport, in the House of Lords. Since 2012, he has been the Chair of Lib Dems in Communications.Education, Charitable and VoluntaryHe is a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Medicine and an Honorary Fellow of the School of Pharmacy, University College London. He is Chair of the Advisory Council of the Institute for Ethical AI in Education, led by Sir Anthony Seldon.Lord Clement-Jones is a Council Member of the Heart of the City; Fellow of the Public Relations Consultants Association and Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. To ensure that alumni receive their invitation card on time, they should provide a full up-to-date address when booking their place.
