Norah Gallagher teaches postgraduate course at the University of New South Wales

Norah Gallagher was invited to teach a postgraduate elective course at the University of New South Wales from 14-18 October 2013 on the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes. The course covered all forms of international disputes resolution from mediation and conciliation to arbitration and litigation before the International Court of Justice. It looked at the historic context of the obligation to settle disputes peacefully as well as looking at the role of the United Nations in this process. The NAFTA, WTO and ICSID were also discussed as means of settling specific types of international trade and investment disputes. The intensive course ran all day from 9 till 6pm and involved class participation, a case study and a final paper.
