School of Law research referenced in The Economist - International commercial law: exorbitant privilege

An article in The Economist on the “stranglehold” American and English lawyers have on cross-border business refers to 2010 research by the School of International Aribitration at Queen Mary University of London. The global survey of general counsels and legal department heads found that 40 per cent most frequently did business using English law, and another 22 per cent used American – generally the law of New York state.
