The 2016 London Annual Summit on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China was held in London on 20 June. This event was jointly organised by Queen Mary’s School of International Arbitration (SIA), the Beijing International Arbitration Centre/Beijing Arbitration Commission (BIAC/ BAC), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
The event was based on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China: An Annual Review and Preview (2016), and served as a gateway to grasp the nuances of the recent developments in Chinese Commercial Law and to unlock the intricacies of China-related investment and trade business.
Guests included In-house counsels with China-related business, lawyers specialised in international dispute resolution and/or outbound investment; chambers of commerce, export agencies, arbitration institutions; experienced international arbitration practitioners.
Director of the School of International Arbitration, Professor Loukas Mistelis, who spoke at the welcome address for the event, said:

The summit that BAC/BIAC organises annually in London provides a great insight into Chinese practice in commercial, construction, financial, investment and other disputes and is an intellectual bridge between the major Asian economy and Europe.
