Jamie Roberts, Teaching Laboratory Technician, won a 2024 Staff Apprentice Recognition Award, while his mentor, Claire Cox, Principal Laboratory Manager, was selected as ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Mentor Recognition’ category.
Congratulations to Jamie Roberts, Teaching Laboratory Technician, who has won a 2024 Staff Apprentice Recognition Award. The judging panel was impressed by his proactive and positive attitude when it comes to his learning, his dedication to supporting students, and the instrumental role he played in steering the clinical microbiology teaching laboratories to achieve the Bronze LEAF award.
Congratulations also to Jamie's mentor Claire Cox, Principal Laboratory Manager, who was selected as ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Mentor Recognition’ category. The panel noted the commitment she has shown to Jamie’s development and her willingness to get involved with Jamie’s apprenticeship having stepped in after his previous mentor left.
Claire said: "Jamie has done amazingly well in his apprenticeship and is a joy to mentor. It's lovely to have received recognition for this."
Jamie and Claire were both recognised at the Staff Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony on Thursday 8 February at Queen Mary's Mile End campus. Also in attendance were Ros Muller - Jamie's tutor at Kingston College, Michele Branscombe - Senior Lecturer in Infection Science, and Rachael Parker – Blizard Institute Manager. Congratulations again to both Jamie and Claire.
