Dr Ana Muñiz-García, PhDPostdoctoral ResearcherCentre: Genomics and Child HealthEmail: a.muniz-garcia@qmul.ac.ukTelephone: +44 (0)20 7882 8340ProfilePublicationsProfileDr Muñiz-García completed a BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology at Universidad de León (Spain) where her final year project consisted of the validation of an organotypic brain slice model for stroke studies (Prof Arsenio Fernández-López lab). She then started her PhD at the University of Liverpool (UK), where she developed studies on extracellular vesicle (EV) release in hypoxia. These focused on the molecular mechanisms behind EV release (Dr Silvia Mora lab), and the potential therapeutic effects of EVs from hypoxia pre-conditioned human umbilical-cord derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hUC-MSCs) (Prof Patricia Murray lab). In 2022 she joined Prof Dean Nižetić’s lab at QMUL where she focuses on the study of Alzheimer’s disease pathology progression and neuronal function in the context of Down Syndrome using 2D and 3D human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) models.ResearchPublicationsKey Publications Muñiz-García A*, Pichardo AH*, Littlewood J, Tasker S, Sharkey J, Wilm B, Peace H, O'Callaghan D, Green M, Taylor A, Murray A (2023).
