Profile

After completing my nursing degree in Lithuania, I worked in the A&E department for sixteen years. I enjoyed this very challenging job and as a result of my hard work and dedication achieved The Best Nurse Certificate of excellence and became a Sister of A&E in 1998.

In 2004 I decided to leave Lithuania in order to continue my career in the UK. I joined Barts Health NHS Trust as a Research Nurse and have managed many different studies in a range of specialties. Couple years later I have been promoted to Senior Research Nurse and was a line manager for the Research Nurses in the department which has been a rewarding experience. Hence, in 2015 become a Research Lead and line manager of the Clinical Research Team.

As a Clinical Research Lead my role is to provide clinical and professional support to the team and manage the resources to ensure that all projects have the support needed. I always ensure that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice.

To broaden my understanding of leadership I decided to take part in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme and studied at the University of Birmingham in 2015-17. By completing it I achieved masters in Healthcare Leadership and received NHS Leadership Award in Healthcare Leadership.

The main skills I granted through my career is to being open, honest and compassionate leader. Able to communicate with people at all different levels, building and maintaining great working relationships. Most importantly to recognize the importance of team work to be able to achieve better results.
