He is programme lead to the MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practice. Burak completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge. He then undertook a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Cambridge University Department of Paediatrics under the supervision of Prof. David Dunger. Burak further holds a Postgraduate Certificate Learning & Teaching (Higher Education).TeachingAs programme lead to the MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practice, Burak is instrumental in creating and delivering an engaging distance learning course to help nurses prepare for the role of Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with an innovative curriculum at Queen Mary University of London and its partner Barts Health NHS Trust.Postgraduate TeachingBurak is an active educator as programme lead to the MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practice, and supervisor to muti-disciplinary MSc and PhD students. ResearchResearch Interests:Burak leads a multi-disciplinary research team that builds soft- and hardware solutions to improve cardio-respiratory monitoring in newborn infants. His group further collaborates on projects that are aimed to risk stratify neonatal cases of necrotising enterocolitis and bilious vomiting.
