Mr Christopher Bishop, BSc, MSc, PGDip

Profile

Christopher is a highly motivated and driven clinical perfusionist with 20 years of clinical NHS experience and an academic background in physiological and pharmacological sciences. His diverse clinical background spans clinical perfusion science, critical care, clinical toxicology research, emergency medicine and renal replacement therapy. As an experienced clinical educator, he has held teaching fellow posts and regularly instructs on Resuscitation Council UK advanced adult and paediatric resuscitation courses. He also guest lectures for the QMUL MSc in Prehospital Care on the Resuscitation Science module. He is passionate about trauma resuscitation science, education and research, and his special areas of interest are in extracorporeal-endovascular resuscitation strategies in shock, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injury.

Research Interests:

As part of the Transform Trauma initiative, defining the clinical, logistic and human factors barriers and solutions to the effective implementation of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) for patients who develop cardiac dysfunction following severe traumatic haemorrhage.
