Professor Brundage is actively involved in major Surgical Societies; American College of Surgeons, American Association for the Surgery Of Trauma, Western Trauma Association, Society of University Surgeons, and the Association for Academic Surgeons. 

Prof Brundage served as Advisor to the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland co-editing the WHO “Guidelines for Trauma Quality Improvement Programmes.” This document provides an important resource for developing effective Trauma QI Programmes particularly focusing on the capacities of resource limited environments and is freely available online.

Summary

Professor Brundage joined The Blizard in July 2013 recruited from the USA to direct Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London, TRAUMA.ORG and the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s International Masters in Trauma Sciences Programme. Prof Brundage is recognized as a global trauma expert based on her reputation as an outstanding trauma surgeon combined with prominent and practice-defining publications in surgical outcomes research. Prof Brundage’s longstanding interest in dissemination of trauma knowledge and education has resulted in extensive presentations in America plus lectures throughout South Africa, West Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia and the UK.

Professor Brundage’s faculty posts in Trauma Surgery in the USA included such esteemed academic trauma institutions as Harborview Medical Centre, The University of Washington Seattle, Washington for her Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and Masters in Public Health supported by the CDC and NIH, Ben Taub General Hospital at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas for her Assistant Professor Position, Stanford University in Palo Alto, California for Associate Professor. Prior to joining The Blizard, Professor Brundage achieved her full Professorship in the USA at New York University (NYU) Medical Centre in Manhattan, New York working at NYU Bellevue Hospital – the oldest public hospital in the USA - and as Chief of Acute Care Surgery at NYU Tisch Hospital where Prof Brundage established a Surgical Intensive Care Unit devoted exclusively to care of critically ill patients with diseases of a surgical nature.
