Application testing: Key information

We are upgrading

Published:

The Journey to Cloud project has been migrating our Backup Data Centre (where we store our critical applications and data) to Microsoft Azure (a cloud-based platform). As part of the migration we are now in a position to start the testing of some of our critical applications including:

  •     SITS
  •     Agresso
  •     Ivanti
  •     Scientia
  •     MyHR / Resource Link
  •     Campus M
  •     Elements
  •     Kinetics

We aim to undertake this testing before the end of October 2023 – where possible.

In practical terms this will entail a controlled shutdown of an application in our Primary Data Centre and bring it up in Azure where we will undertake testing after which we will revert the Application to the Primary Data Centre. Failover from our Primary Data Centre to Azure takes approximately 30 minutes during which time the application will not be available. Switching back from Azure to our Primary Data Centre will again take approximately 30 minutes and during that time the Application will not be available.

We will of course look to cause minimum inconvenience and will look to schedule these tests out of standard operating hours and typically on weekends based on staff availability and away from critical business dates including clearing and enrolment. Dates for testing will be agreed between the ITS project team and the various stakeholders who use these systems on a regular basis.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused, and if in the meantime you have any questions, please do get in touch.
