About the Role
Applications are invited for the role of Dean for Research Impact Role. The Dean for Research Impact role is a pivotal senior leadership position within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, responsible for securing a flourishing and sustainable research environment which can respond with agility to opportunities and challenges within the sector. Reporting to the Vice-Principal (Health), Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, and with a dotted line to Prof Amrita Ahluwalia (Dean for Research) this role represents the Faculty on research impact at senior levels within the University. The role ensures that the Faculty is firmly integrated into the research life of the University as a whole, providing leadership and strategic oversight of the Faculty’s research impact activity and for key impact programmes of work across Queen Mary.
About You
As an established academic, you will have an outstanding global research profile with the potential to offer credible leadership to staff at all levels of the Faculty. An adept strategist, you will have had senior academic leadership experience with the ability to successfully engage and cohere staff around a compelling research vision for impact. You will have a commitment to the University’s values and will be able to evidence leadership in embedding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.
About the Faculty
In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework 92% of Queen Mary’s research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry offers international excellence in cardiovascular, inflammation, cancer, genomics and population health research and teaching, and supports clinical service for a population of 2.5 million with unrivalled ethnic diversity in East London and the wider Thames Gateway. Our research changes lives and working with four NHS Trust partners in East London, we are central to delivering impact on health-related challenges for local and global populations. We are firmly embedded in our East End and global communities through a strategy focused on Better Health for All.
