Black mould in Equipment cold room LG157

We have a large amount of black mould in cold room LG157.

Published:

This morning we cleaned a lot of the surfaces within the cold room but there is a lot of equipment within the cold room that has black mould growth on it – some pictures attached:

There are also a number of cardboard and polystyrene boxes in this room that should not be in this room. There are still also crates within the room that were moved when cold room LG154 went down, and these have not been moved back.

Can the following groups who have equipment that has been identified either clean their equipment if they wish it to remain in the cold room, or remove any equipment that is not being used:

  • O’Toole group
  • Sheer group
  • CBCR
  • Marino group
  • Rowe group
  • Maffucci group
  • Connelly group
  • Philpott group
  • ECS group
  • Ben Gamaschi’s group
  • Linton group
  • Mark Turner’s group

There are boxes and crates identified as belonging to the following people/groups. These need to be removed entirely:

  • CBCR – crates to be replaced in LG.154 or disposed of
  • Dentistry – crates to be replaced in LG.154 or disposed of
  • Paul Ryan – box to be removed
  • Kennedy group – box to be removed
  • BD GRP group – box to be removed
  • Bacterial plates – plates to be removed

Everything in this cold room needs to be removed as requested, or cleaned, by Friday 20 October. After this date, equipment that remains uncleaned will be removed and anything in cardboard boxes or polystyrene boxes will be disposed of. If there are any crates remaining in this room it will be assumed that the contents are no longer needed by any groups and the contents will also be disposed of.

Anything that is to be disposed of that is mouldy eg. cardboard boxes, polystyrene boxes, should be disposed of via clinical waste bags and not via the usual recycling routes.
