Blizard Institute Business Continuity Plan

The Blizard Institute Business Continuity Plan is the Institute's plan for actions in the event of an emergency which interrupts the normal operations of the facility. It details what type of incident could affect normal working, all actions that would need to be taken and by whom.

In the event of disruption or disaster that impacts the Institute’s ability to conduct administrative, educational or research activities, due to but not limited to; inaccessible office, laboratory or teaching space or a loss of resources (equipment and staffing), IT systems or supply chains, this plan is to be used to maintain business continuity for the Blizard Institute whilst the business recovers.

This plan concentrates specifically on the Blizard Institute and how it will continue to operate and its ability to deliver critical business as usual (BAU) activities during a sustained interruption.

The purpose of the Plan

  • It details the strategy and approach to be followed to enable recovery from a business interruption
  • It details the actions to be taken by staff once the plan has been invoked by the Institute’s Crisis and Incident Management Team
  • This plan may be invoked in concert with other Faculties / Directorates / Departments and may be coordinated by the Leadership Team

Who can invoke the Plan

In the event of a business interruption or incident the relevant response teams will convene and review the impact of the incident. Notification will be communicated to nominated business stakeholders and Business Continuity Plan owners/nominees by the most appropriate method depending on the incident.
