Diversity Speaks: Interactive Group Coaching Taster Session with Q&A

Dear Students,
QMUL are offering students the opportunity to take part in a group coaching project run by the University Mentoring Organisation (UMO).
We are offering a FREE taster session to students – refreshments included!
Date: Tuesday 7 March 2023, 2.30pm - 4.00pm
Venue: LG1 – G.O. Jones, Mile End Campus
- Who it is aimed at: Students who identify from a diverse ethnic background.
- What is involved: Tackling difficulties in university related to your race, ethnicity and culture.
- What is the benefit for students:
- An opportunity to work as a group with a specialist coach from a similar ethnic background, to explore barriers you have experienced including race, identity etc.
- A safe and validating space to build a sense of belonging and allyship to promote self-acceptance and a positive self-image.
- A specific time and place where you can refocus and trust you will be heard, developing skills to better manage the structural bias of academia.
- To rebuild your self-confidence, unlock your talents, build resilience and proactively be motivated to create change.

- How to explore positive ways of managing barriers
Led by UMO Coaches; catering will be provided.
What commitment is involved if you register after the taster session?:
- To work as part of a group setting.
- To attend 1 x hour session for 7 weeks.
