Emergency lighting works Thursday 26 October

Thank you all for your patience over the last several months with the electrical works that needed to be done in the lab to make the lab more robust from an electrical point of view.

Unfortunately there are some further works that need to take place on the emergency lights in the south side of the open lab. This will require some assistance from those of you who work in these bays.

On Thursday 26 October, the emergency lights will be changed in bays 13 to 29, East AND West sides. We ask that all users clear their top shelf on their benches before this day. The electricians will potentially need to get onto benches to change the lightbulbs and don’t want to knock any bottles over. We also don’t want them to be in danger from any spillages that might occur. Therefore might I suggest that everyone takes a little time to go through all boxes/bottles of reagents etc on the top shelves in their bays and discard what is no longer needed.

Additionally, in bay 13, East and West, the space UNDER the benches will also need to be cleared as the electricians need to get to the wiring which is thought to be behind the panels under the benches.

These works will be taking place from approx. 5pm and are expected to last one night (8 hours).

In summary:

  • On Thurs 26th Oct 5pm-3am emergency lighting will be changed in bays 13-29, East and West sides.
  • ALL bays need to clear their top shelves before this day.
  • Bay 13 East and West will also need to clear the space under their benches.

I hope this is clear. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if further clarification/information is required.

Thank you.
