Please find attached a short slide pack with information links regarding the 7 September 2023 UK/EU agreement on the UK’s association to the €95.5bn Horizon Europe research and innovation programme from 1 January 2024.
Key points:
From the 2024 Work programme onwards: UK researchers will be able to fully participate as Beneficiary Partners - including leading consortia – including any 2024 calls opening in 2023.
For 2023 work programme and 2023 call topics: UK entities must apply as Beneficiaries and will continue to be funded under transitional arrangements (as Associated Partners) via the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee
UK Horizon Europe Guarantee: has been extended to cover all remaining Horizon Europe grant (2023) calls and successful UK applicants irrespective of the call closing or grant signature date
It is important to note that the Horizon Europe work programme call topic year will for most schemes define UK status at grant agreement stage, and if the award is EC Horizon Europe funded or UKRI Guarantee funded. Thus, QM researchers are encouraged to (re)engage with EU counterparts and networks, and continue to apply for EU funding opportunities as Beneficiary Partner. And for 2023 call topics, to ensure consortium remains eligibility (without counting UK). There will be hundreds of call opportunities remaining in the 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 Horizon Europe work programmes. QM awardees in Horizon Europe total c. €30m
