Dear All,
It has been quite a busy week in our Faculty.
Over the weekend Barts Choir celebrated the 900th anniversary of the Hospital with a knockout performance at the Royal Albert Hall. It was fantastic to mark this occasion in such a spectacular venue with a programme of English Classical and Choral music as well as some inspirational words by Fiona Miller Smith, CEO of Barts Charity. I always really enjoy seeing the ‘creative and artistic’ side of our wider Barts family.
Yesterday we held a graduation ceremony in Malta to celebrate the MBBS class of 2023. In the scenic Cittadella on the island of Gozo a truly international cohort of 22 students crossed the stage and it was a delight to be there to recognise their success. This is the second group of students to complete their studies in Malta and a testament to the hard work by our colleagues on the island.
The graduation season continues next week on Monday with London graduations at Mile End and Rites of Passage in St Paul’s Cathedral. Our intercalating students will graduate on Monday 24 July.
Professor Paul Coulthard will be stepping down as our Dean for Dentistry and Director of the Institute of Dentistry at the end of July and this week we held a celebration to offer thanks for his truly transformative work within the Institute.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
With best wishes,
Mark
