This is just an email to make you aware that we have an intern, Chris, from Project SEARCH, joining the Laboratory Management team for 3 months from this week.
For those of you who are not aware of Project SEARCH, it is a project aimed at enabling young adults with learning difficulties and/or autism to earn valuable work experience.
A short overview on Project SEARCH:
We are a supported internship for young people with learning difficulties and/or autism based at QMUL. There are over 100 Project SEARCH sites across the U.K. QMUL is our host business/partner, and their role is to provide work experience opportunities to the young people we work with. We currently work with over 25 QMUL departments from admin and IT to catering and retail. We are always striving to offer a broader range of opportunities to our young people and by teaming up with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry we hope to be able to offer an opportunity to work within a lab or science environment.

Chris will be mainly shadowing Khalid in the washroom and will be with him in the washroom or on the lab floor for the majority of his time here.
Chris has autism and we ask that in your interactions with him you show patience and take extra time if explaining any procedures to him.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Chris to the Blizard for the next 3 months.
Thank you.
