I am delighted to announce that registration is now open for our third Festival of Education, taking place from 18 – 20 April 2023.
This year our theme is Inclusive Education: Addressing visible and hidden barriers to success – what are the pedagogical approaches that open the doors of opportunity for all?
These are timely subjects as inclusion, opportunity and diversity are core to our strategy, mission and values. These are issues that higher education institutions and policy makers here in the UK and across the world are tackling on a daily basis. And our event is about finding solutions and sharing best practice.
We have an inspirational speaker to open our event, with an opening keynote from Professor Edward Peck, Vice Chancellor and President at Nottingham Trent University, and the Department for Education (DfE) Student Support Champion. In this new role, Professor Peck will provide leadership to the sector to share best practice and promote new initiatives to ensure that students remain supported and engaged with all aspects of campus life. He will be speaking on The future role of student analytics in supporting inclusive education.
Our three-day line-up is truly diverse with invited speakers, engaging panel discussions and workshops. With 20 parallel sessions to choose from, 13 posters and three PechaKucha presentations, we’ll hear from Queen Mary’s staff and students, while also welcoming colleagues from across the higher education sector.
This Festival builds on the success of those held in 2021 and 2022, establishing this as an annual occasion that connects us with many audiences to discuss issues around learning and education, and to celebrate the successes of our educators.
I want to say a special thank you to the Festival’s programme committee for their work in helping to co-create this event with educators. Such an occasion cannot be created in isolation, and I know that the committee has put immense thought, time and effort into making this a stand-out event.
