We are running mock interviews to help prepare Final year students who have applied for Specialised Foundation Programme (SFP) posts this year.
This is a competitive process which requires students to have a successful application, after completing short answer questions and/or reviews their research and academic outputs including presentations and publications. The SFP posts allow students to develop research, teaching and leadership/management skills. Successful students are then invited to attend interviews specific to their Foundation School, which will be taking place in mid-November.
The mock interviews require a panel of a clinician and academic/researcher. The interview will last for 20 minutes and consist of reviewing a research article, dealing with a clinical scenario typical for a FY1 doctor and then the student will receive direct feedback from the panel. The interview sessions will last approximately 2 hours and the panel will be briefed and provided with relevant documentation beforehand. Students from previous years have really valued this experience in preparation for their SFP interviews.
