Dear Colleagues  

Our Pathways to Leadership programme offers a range of development for colleagues at various stages of their management journey.

Please have a look at the programmes and consider who in your area would benefit. The Pathways to Leadership page has details on the programmes, a diagnostic questionnaire for colleagues to complete, and a toolkit to support you to have a conversation. These slides summarise the programmes and provide more detail about the nomination process.  

Programme Deadline for expressions of interest 
Transition to Leadership Programme for Grade 7 and 8 staff who are considering organisational leadership roles  5 May 
Established Managers, Emerging Leaders – for experienced managers  19 May 
Management Essentials – for new managers who haven’t had formal management development  30 June 
Aspiring Managers & Team Leaders – for people who are not yet managers  Book through CPD booking system  

In addition to the core programme there are a range of electives; attended as part of programmes or on their own. For example: 

  • Enabling Performance Through Constructive Conversations which enables participants to support performance improvements. It includes opportunity to practice challenging conversations with actors. Book through CPD booking system searching for PD277 
  • Mental Health Awareness for Managers. To help managers deal with mental health more effectively at work. Book through CPD booking system searching for PD290 
  • A range of courses on Linkedin learning  

In addition, there is the Queen Mary Manager which provides an introduction to people policy and procedures for new managers. Book through CPD booking system searching for 303B 

Apprenticeships in leadership and management are also available at levels 3 – 7, for those new to management/supervision through to senior leaders. Apprenticeships are funded via our apprenticeship levy. The Apprenticeship page has details on apprenticeships, including how they can be accessed and eligibility. We are currently in the process of further developing the apprenticeships offered but please use the Staff Apprenticeships - Expression of interest form to capture your interest.
