The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has set up four Multi-Disciplinary Research Themes (MDTs) which aim to showcase and support research activities across the Faculty. The Lifelong Health and Environment & Health themes have opened applications for pump priming funding to support work that aligns with their research focus. You can apply for up to £5000 per theme.
 
Your proposal must demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary research. We particularly welcome applications from early career researchers.

Eligibility
Applications must include representation from at least two FMD institutes or one FMD institute and one other Queen Mary Faculty or University Research Institute (URI). Please note that FMD funds are to support FMD activity only.

The following activities are eligible for funding:

  • Bid writing workshops to support, finalise and submit multidisciplinary research bids of ≥ £200K with QMUL and national and/or international collaborators,
  • To obtain pilot data to support research grant applications ≥ £200K for external future funding,
  • Develop proof of concepts and begin successful research projects e.g., cross-faculty to support future establishment of QM URI,
  • To develop effective industry partnerships with funding links e.g., sponsorships,
  • To obtain data to support quality research paper submissions and publications e.g., response to reviewers’ comments, novel paper.

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Staff costs (funds are for consumables only),
  • Independent (non-QM) website development.
