QMBio freezer room rise in temperature

Published:

The temperature in QMBio/Innovation Centre freezer room has risen substantially as a result of the failure of two out of three of the air-condition units. Estates is aware of the issue and an emergency call out to BTU for repair works to be carried out has been made.

While the temperature of the freezers has remained stable all day, a number of freezers have had their filter alarms go off, Lab management have adjusted these filters to improve airflow. We ask that all responders please be alert to any potential automated callouts from Checkit for high temp alarms. This is particularly crucial for freezers holding CTIMP/HTA samples.

Given that the air con failed yesterday morning and no temperature alarms occurred, we suspect callouts will be unlikely, but its best that responders are aware of the situation just in case. If you do receive a call out for high temp, please follow the SOP below for instruction on breakdown procedures.

We will update you all on the situation as it progresses.
