Queen Mary launches new Carers Career Development Fund

Queen Mary celebrates Carers Rights Day by launching a new Carers Career Development Fund

Published:

Thursday 23 November is Carers Rights Day, which aims to raise awareness of carers and to empower carers with information and support.

Attending networking and career-development events such as conferences and workshops provide individuals with important and valuable opportunities to progress and develop their career. Queen Mary is committed to supporting carers to access these opportunities.

As part of recognising Carers Rights Day, Queen Mary is delighted to announce The Carer’s Career Development Fund (CCDF). This scheme is designed to help parents/guardians and carers with the additional care costs incurred as a result of attending conferences or other important development and networking events, which fall outside of their normal working hours. The fund enables staff to receive reimbursement of the costs of care arrangements where they attend such activities.

This scheme is open to all staff at Queen Mary who have caring responsibilities; for the avoidance of doubt, this includes those with both parental/childcare duties, and those caring for adults.

This fund is run and administered by the Research Culture Team, a new team within Research Services, working to create a research culture where everyone at Queen Mary can thrive. Further information about the team’s work can be found on its webpages; for questions about this fund or research culture activities at Queen Mary more generally, please contact researchculture@qmul.ac.uk.
