Research and Innovation Awards 2024 now open

I’m extremely pleased to announce that applications for the Research and Innovation Awards 2024 are now open.

Published:

The Awards celebrate our outstanding achievements in research, innovation and the contributions our research community make to the world around us. It also celebrates the unique research culture at Queen Mary and the many talented people who make our work possible.

In this spirit, this year we will shortlist applications by peer review, so we are also looking for staff across academic, professional services, technical support and postgrad students to join our team of shortlisters. Look out for updates coming soon about our panel chairs for this year, drawn from high-profile funders, professional organisations and other important research stakeholders.

There are eight categories, open to ALL eligible Queen Mary staff at any grade and from any part of the university:

  • Research Supervisor (individual applications only)
  • Early Career Researcher (individual applications only)
  • Interdisciplinary Research Team (team applications only)
  • Technical Support (individual applications only)
  • Research Support (team or individual)
  • Impact: Commercial and Enterprise (team applications only)
  • Impact: Culture, Civic, Community and Policy (team applications only)
  • VP Research’s Award for Research Excellence (team or individual)

This year applications for all categories are self-nominations with a brief compulsory and anonymised endorsement from any other QM staff or student, submissions strictly via a short online form, and the deadline for applications is 1 March 2024. Full details of how to apply for an award or for peer reviewing can be found on the R&I Awards Sharepoint pages.

Shortlists will be announced on or just after 18 March 2024, and the winners and two highly commended applications in each category will be announced at the award ceremony on 2 May.

Please circulate widely to your networks and cascade to your teams, and address all queries to me on rosie.anderson@qmul.ac.uk.
