Staff Survey Steering Group update from Chief Operations Officer

Published:

Dear colleague,

As a reminder, I chair the Staff Survey Steering Group which has oversight of the outcomes and actions related to our Staff Survey results. I wanted to thank you again for completing the survey and getting involved in action planning in your area. The steering group met earlier this month following the release of the 2023 results and I am writing now to update you following that meeting.

Since our last survey a year ago, a significant amount of work has been delivered, as outlined in the Staff Survey Action Planning: The Story so Far progress report. The results of the 2023 survey indicate that action planning is taking effect and we will aim to build upon this by identifying achievable and deliverable key actions we believe will further improve staff experience at Queen Mary.

Some new areas have been highlighted in your feedback in the 2023 survey such as the physical environment and underlying systems and processes. Coinciding with revisions to local action plans coming forward in September, we will identify further actions against these topics, aiming to publish a refreshed Institutional Staff Survey Action Plan at the beginning of the 2023/24 academic year.

Work will be taking place to support any refresh of existing staff survey action plans. These can be viewed on Connected. The next meeting of the steering group is in August and I will continue to write to you regularly, including on the completion of action planning across the University and with updates on progress and areas of change.

Kind regards,

Dr Sharon Ellis
Chief Operations Officer and Chair, Staff Survey Steering Group
