Dear colleagues,
We are writing to share the incredibly sad news that our colleague Dr Theo Kreouzis, Senior Lecturer in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences (SPCS), passed away last Wednesday.
Theo has been a much-loved member of the Queen Mary physics community for the past 21 years. He completed his PhD at Queen Mary in condensed matter physics and, after a post-doc at Imperial, returned as a Lecturer in 2003. As a researcher he was a close collaborator with many colleagues in SPCS investigating important materials properties ranging from organic magnetoresistance to tuneable dielectrics. As a teacher, Theo was recognised by generations of undergraduates and postgraduates for his enthusiasm, clarity of explanation, approachability and for his infectious love of physics.
We are in touch with Theo’s family and will be sending a letter of condolence on behalf of the University. SPCS will also be opening a book of condolence.
This terrible news will impact all of us in different ways. Please do look out for each other and do not hesitate to contact our Employee Assistance Programme, which provides a comprehensive range of free, confidential support.
Sincerely,Colin and Wen
