N.B. neither the scholarship award (£20,000) or the decision making is run through Queen Mary.
They are offered by the Sekforde House Trust, which is run by a commercial lawyer called David Lonsdale. However, it is a generous award and one that is open to UG and PG, Home and International, so we wanted to flag this with you for dissemination within the faculty.
The Trust has already supported a number of scholars at UCL and City University. From this year thanks to efforts from Gary and one of our academics in the Wolfson Institute , Queen Mary students are able to apply too. The Trust award 6 per year and more info can be found here:

The application process requires a fair bit of work (personal statement, CV, personal reference and academic reference) and the deadline for this year is tight – Fri 30 June 2023.
If you could share this with colleagues, and perhaps ask them to share in turn with applicants who they feel would best fit the criteria, that would be much appreciated. We’d love to be able to field some strong candidates.
