Welcome to all our new on-site and online learning students. Whether you are able to join us on campus or are studying from home, we can't wait for you to join us at the Blizard Institute.

Induction information

All of the information you need for your induction can be found on the Blizard Institute QMplus pageQMplus is our virtual learning environment. To login, you will need the username and password which has been emailed to you by IT Services. QMplus will be one of the first things you log on to as a student. We recommend you become familiar with it before you start your degree programme.

There are a number of induction videos for you to watch on the QMplus page, including Academic Skills Enhancement, The Basics of QMplus, and more. You will also receive further information from your programme teams relating to your course.

Compulsory Induction event for all students

The compulsory Blizard Institute induction event for new students will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 September, 1.30pm-5.00pm BST (GMT+1) in the Perrin Lecture Theatre at the Whitechapel campus of Queen Mary University of London.

There will also be an online attendance option on MS Teams at the same time for distance learning (online) students and those who are unable to travel to the campus on the day. This has been emailed to you, so please check your inboxes and spam folders. Please note that students who will be based on campus throughout their programme of study are strongly encouraged to attend in person.

In the event that you cannot attend live (in person or online) due to work commitments or unforeseen circumstances, a recording will be made available which you should watch at your earliest convenience.

The schedule for the event is as follows:

Wednesday 18 September

  • 1:30pm-2:00pm BST* – Arrive (on-site only)
  • 2.00pm-3.30pm BST – Induction presentation and Q&A, Perrin Lecture Theatre (on-site and online)
  • 3.30pm-5.00pm BST – Reception with refreshment, Perrin Foyer (on-site only)

*British Summer Time (GMT+1)

Welcome Week

Welcome Week will take place from Monday 16 September – Friday 20 September. During this time, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore your courses and the services available to you at Queen Mary, as well as social activities. If you are able to come to campus and need support or have any questions, you can visit the information point in Library Square from 10am – 4pm each day.

Barts and The London Students' Association (BLSA Welcome Fair)

The BLSA Welcome Fair for new and returning students will take place outside the Blizard Building on Wednesday 18 September, 1pm-4pm. There will be around 60 stalls showcasing student activities, societies and sport teams that you can get involved with.
