When: Thursday, September 26, 2024, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PMWhere: BLOC Cinema, ArtsOne, Mile End
Join us for an exclusive film screening of the documentary The Blockade, including a Q&A with the director.
The Blockade documents the direct action taken by American and Bangladeshi peace activists in the US to prevent arms being shipped by their government to the West Pakistani government during 1971, at the height of the genocide and Bangladeshi Liberation War.
With the UK still refusing a meaningful arms embargo to Israel and with activists across the world taking action into their own hands to block material used for Israel’s slaughter in Gaza, this is a timely reminder of the power and importance of grassroots organising.
Bring a friend - bring a parent! This is a great intro to organising, and considering the impact the diaspora can have on international issues.
