On Monday 15th June, Sir Nicholas Montagu (Chair of Council at Queen Mary) Rob Tinlin (Chief Executive of the award-winning Southend-on-Sea Borough Council) and Nick Manning (former Head of the Governance and Public Sector Management Group at the World Bank) via Skype, jointly awarded the prize for the most impressive proposal by a team of students on our Masters Programme in Public Administration (MPA) to our annual 'Dragons' Den' exercise.
We would like to send a huge congratulations to the winning students, Assel Shonyrayeva and Assel Ultanbay. The winning proposal was a detailed, carefully costed, well-specified and controlled but ambitious plan for a new pilot scheme for adaptations to homes lived in by people with disabilities in a region of Kazakhstan. We would also like to congratulate Dilek Meydan and Dias Kadyrbayev who were both runners up.
Sir Nicholas Montagu said, "The Dragon’s Den competition is an enjoyable and rigorous way of looking at the innovative schemes MPA students come up with to improve public administration. I’m always impressed by the thought that goes into those schemes, as well as their presentation and the way that the students defend their proposals under what can be quite challenging questioning."
