Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (2020 Call) - Call for Expressions of Interest

The School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London welcomes expressions of interest from potential postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record, to apply jointly with a QMUL host supervisor, to the European Commission’s 2020 Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Individual European Fellowship Scheme.

The Fellowships are a prestigious EU funding scheme which support mobility, career development and training in Europe and beyond. The fellowships offer 12-24 months highly competitive researcher salary and research/training funds. The fellowship should include an individual research project, integrated with advanced training, professional development and knowledge transfer, hosted at QMUL.

What does the Fellowship entail?

A researcher with either a PhD or 4 years relevant research experience, moves to an institution in another country (the “host country”), where she/he works with a designated supervisor to deliver a specific research and training project. Both Supervisor and Fellow should collaborate on the application.

Researcher Profile

Candidates are expected to have a strong CV relative to their career stage and should be able to demonstrate their high potential.

Eligibility

  • You can be of any nationality, but you must not have spent more than 12 months in the UK in the last 36 months prior to the EC call deadline (09/09/2020)
  • You must have a PhD (or equivalent), or four years full time research experience
  • Gross salary (€89,067 pa*, including Living Allowance and Mobility Allowance)
  • Family allowance (if eligible, €500 per month also paid as salary to the fellow)
  • Research, training and networking costs (€800 per month)
  • Management and indirect costs (€650 per month to the host)

*Note that gross salary includes employer on-costs and tax

All allowances are flat rates and calculated according to the duration of the fellowship.

Research Areas

The School of Business and Management seeks to sustain and enhance a distinctive research profile and ensure a supportive and intellectually challenging business and management research culture, which emphasizes the interconnected nature of business with respect to: 
1) societal and historical
2) social justice issues 
3) governance in the private, public and third sectors. 

We would welcome applications for this scheme in any of the following areas (please see web page for further details):

  1. Business marketing, supply chain management, inter-organisational strategy, and innovation
  2. Equality, diversity and inclusion in work, careers and organisations
  3. International monetary economics and finance; macro and development economics; labour economics behaviour, institutions and networks; intellectual property
  4. Accounting and accountability
  5. Ethical and political dimensions of new forms of work and emerging workplaces; ethics and politics of global tendencies in business and the environment, logistics and energy, finance and property, and regulation and governance
  6. Organisational processes and practices
  7. Public management: national governments; strategic management in international organisations; management of public services; regulatory activity
  8. Behavioural finance

  9. Marketing interactions, communication and theory; digitization communication technology; fragmentation of consumer markets; consumer behaviour: cross-border nature of branding
  10. Borderlines: Action Research Cluster in Creative and Cultural Economies

How to Apply

To apply, please submit an EOI to the School’s Research Manager, Saritha Divakar (s.divakar@qmul.ac.uk) by 5th June 2020.

Your EOI documents must include:

1)            A copy of your CV, including a full list of publications (max. 3 pages)

2)            2 page outline of your research proposal (to review the quality of your idea)

3)           A statement confirming that you meet the fellow eligibility criteria (described above)

4)           Name of a potential mentor for the project from within in the School.  Staff details can be found here.

Expressions of interest will be evaluated on the quality of the research idea and selected candidates will be invited to make a formal application to the scheme with their SBM supervisor(s). Decisions on expressions of interest will be communicated to candidates in July. EOI Results will be announced around 30 June 2020.

QMUL has a history of success with 62 Horizon 2020 individual fellowships awarded to date and ranked 8th in the UK and 14th in Europe for H2020 fellowships.

EC Funding Deadline

The final deadline date for submissions to the European Commission is 9 September 2020 17:00 Brussels time.
