Programme Outline

Over a period of five weeks, you will have the opportunity to work for an employer on a flexible, part-time basis for 40 hours. As part of the programme, you will attend two career training sessions delivered by a Queen Mary careers consultant, one at the beginning and one at the end of your micro-internship. Training sessions are compulsory and focus on professional etiquette, how to make the most out of your internship and how to identify what skills you have developed in the process. You will also have support from a supervisor from the Queen Mary internships team throughout the programme.

Each micro-internship is unique, but you can expect to experience what it is like working in a professional environment and learn how to apply certain academic skills such as research, analytical and communication skills to a real-life scenario. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain work experience and add it to your CV whilst studying.

Past students' experiences

“This Micro Internship not only gave me the opportunity to put the skills I currently have -- such as research, time-management and responsibility -- to practice, but it also enabled me to develop and refine those skills for the better. It also certainly provided me with the valuable work experience I need to enhance my CV/resume.”

“My communication skills have also increased highly as well, I was in constant communication with the people at my micro-internship so that I could make sure the project was fit for their requirements.”
