The Brazil Chapter was launched on Thursday 26 November and hosted by Professor Ian Walden. Professor Duncan Matthews was also present as the academic associated to the Chapter. Many alumni already know Duncan so it was nice to see familiar faces on the virtual event.
He said: "It was so impressive to see the legal expertise of our alumni at the launch meeting of the CCLS Brazil Chapter. We are very proud of their achievements.”
Brazil Chapter leads Ana Carolina Cagnoni Ribeiro and Cassio Mosse were also present to share their objectives for the Chapter.
Cassio said: “The CCLS Brazil Chapter launch was a very successful kick-off event, bringing together alumni from various years, and it was a great way to brainstorm on the next activities and events to be held.”
Isadora Schumacher Schlindwein (Intellectual Property Law LLM, 2018) recollected: "My time at QMUL was an enriching experience. The LLM had innovative classes and great structure. I had the opportunity to be part of different events and the mentoring programme, which helped look at my career and what I wanted. The programme inspired me and now I am part of the mentoring programme as part of the QMUL alumni."
Emilio Bugs (Commercial and Corporate Law LLM, 2013) shared: "Queen Mary has a strong brand in Brazil, particularly in Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property areas, so it was an easy choice for my masters abroad. I did my LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law back in 2013, and it was a remarkable experience in all levels: academic, professional and personal.
Being a proud alumni, I am keen to expand our engagement here in Brazil, both strengthening our alumni network and also assisting Brazilian prospects willing to have the life changing experience that I was so lucky to have enjoyed."
Mayara Nunes Medeiros de Souza (Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM, 2019) fed back: "I was very happy to meet new and inspiring people at CCLS's Brazil Chapter. It is a great networking opportunity and I look forward to taking part in the projects that will also help current and future QMUL students."
