Abhishek is a Senior Associate - Direct Tax Litigation at Advaita Legal, which has just won the India Business Law Journal 2020 "Law Firm Award for Taxation".
Abhishek graduated with a Distinction in Tax Law in 2016 and is currently working as a Senior Associate in Direct Tax Litigation for the law firm Advaita Legal, as well as acting as an Advocate in the Bombay High Court. This is what Abhishek says about his experience of studying at CCLS.
Thanks to CCLS, I was one of only a handful of Indian students who achieved a distinction across all LLM specialisms in the 2015 – 2016 academic year at the prestigious Queen Mary University of London. I was in fact the only student from India to attain this result in the LLM in Tax Law specialisms (180 credits), one of the most challenging LLM specialisms on offer at Queen Mary University of London.
As a result, I was invited to represent Queen Mary as a part of its delegation at the National Union of Students’ (NUS) national conference in February 2016 at Goldsmith College, London. At the Education Awards in 2016 I was awarded the prestigious “Course Representative Gold Award” for my continued efforts and contribution to making a positive impact on the Queen Mary student experience. In the 12th Edition of the CCLS Alumni Bulletin (Summer 2017), I was invited to provide a quote on my experience of the Tax Law LLM along with an overview of the programme provided by the directors of the School of Tax Law at CCLS. I said in the quote that “I found the Tax LLM programme to be meticulously designed to cover the complex international tax regime from a multinational and comparative perspective. The teachers have both years of practical experience and deep knowledge of their subjects. The LLM has been my most enriching academic experience to date.”
