Find out what Adebisi Sanda has been doing since graduating from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies in 2014.
Since graduating from CCLS, I have mostly worked at a tier one law firm in Nigeria where I advised on countless transformational projects/transactions in the private equity, finance and capital market field, with a cumulative project value of about $3 billion. I have also worked (on secondment) as the primary legal counsel to an infrastructure fund in Lagos, where I managed various infrastructure projects in education, power, healthcare, and water. In that role I also provided secretarial support to the advisory board and to the investment committee. More recently, I have been providing governance and compliance support on acquisition and finance transactions at a publicly listed company.
My previous and current roles have given me a practical experience of what I studied at Queen Mary, namely, the law and ethics of finance.
My CCLS education helped further my career: it equipped me with the knowledge to be able to take advantage of different opportunities. Being a student at CCLS was a great experience, but it is also worth mentioning that CCLS pays particular attention to student careers and the world outside the academic community. We had countless partners at top law firms and other accomplished professionals/experts teach us various topics.
There were a number of Nigerians in my year at CCLS and so I think it is time to hold an event in Lagos and perhaps start to hold regular events: this would be useful for CCLS alumni networking and building connections is very important in the legal profession.
