Find out what Dr Ana Maria Fagetan is doing now after graduating from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies in 2007.
After completing an LLM in Banking and Finance Law at Queen Mary University of London, Ana Maria Fagetan successfully defended her PhD thesis on Regulation of Hedge Funds in US, UK and Europe in 2013, under the supervision of Professor Rosa Lastra at the Centre of Commercial Law Studies.
Studying at CCLS paved the way for her academic career in Italy: Professor Lastra encouraged Dr Fagetan to pursue a career in academia, and assisted her with a lot of helpful advice. Since then the two have always been in contact.
Between 2013 and 2017, Dr Fagetan was a lecturer in International Organisations at Luiss University of Rome, in International Commercial Arbitration at La Terza Università of Rome and in a Course in International Private Law for the Scuola di Specializzazione in Professioni Legali at the Università del Molise.
Since 2018, Dr. Fagetan has been a senior lecturer at Università La Sapienza di Roma, teaching Banking and Financial Regulation (part of the EPOS English Master Degree in Advanced Economics) with Professor Domenico Siclari.
Dr Fagetan has written extensively on banking and financial regulation, including a chapter on Il project financing internazionale (International project finance), which is part of the recently published book Il project financing nel codice dei contratti pubblici edited by Professor Siclari (Giappichelli Editore). Her PhD thesis is published soon by Palgrave.
Ana Maria is also a member of the Italian Arbitration Association, the AIA (Associazione Italiana dell’Arbitrato), the Banking Commission of the Italian Bar Association of Rome and of the ADGI (Associazione Donne Giuriste Italiane) in Rome. As a lawyer, she is advising different hedge funds located in several European and non-European jurisdictions and is also acting as a counsel in banking and international arbitration cases.
