At CCLS, we actively support our students in their wish to progress their careers by building professional networks and gaining experience across the legal sector.
Launched in 2016, our Professional Mentoring Programme is steadily growing. Many of our mentors have been with us since the beginning, providing meaningful support to young aspiring lawyers and giving valuable insight into UK and international job markets.
Our students come from diverse cultural backgrounds bringing a unique combination of legal knowledge, experience, skills and attributes.
Our mentors come from a variety of legal backgrounds and practice areas using their professional experience to inspire our current students. Nearly 40 percent of our mentors are CCLS alumni.

Akanksha Apte (Technology, Media and Telecommunication LLM, 2020) took part in the programmed duing the 2019-20 academic year. Here's what she has to say about it:
I am very pleased to have been a part of the PG Law Mentoring Programme, which is perfectly structured for career guidance and overall growth of the students. I developed a very good relationship with my mentor, who is a Global Privacy Counsel at HPE. While the world was grappling with mayhem created by COVID-19, she saw some value in bringing me on-board and offered me an internship at HPE, London (Privacy Office).
This happened to be my first work experience in a foreign jurisdiction. It gave me an opportunity to interact with some of the best brains around the world, build an effective network and increase my exposure. Besides, I regularly had one-to-one meetings with my mentor who helped me make positive choices, grow in confidence and overcome challenges in both my academic as well as professional life. My deepest gratitude to my mentor and to the PG Law Careers Department for offering this wonderful opportunity, which is a fulfilling component of my LLM journey.

My mentor introduced me to the Inner Temple, the exclusive dining place and library for barristers. It was a fantastic experience! Furthermore, we shared topics related to my future career and he supported me in applying to an internship.
