Rossana Amoruso tells us about what drove her to become a lawyer and how CCLS helped her to achieve her dreams.
Since I was 9 years old, and almost as long as I can remember, my absolute dream was to become a lawyer. Both my parents came from working class families and never had the chance to go to university. They have always been my biggest motivation and the reason why I wanted to succeed in law school more than anyone else. I worked to achieve this dream during university by being actively involved in extra-curricular activities. During my last year of university I was dreaming of studying an extra Masters in Law abroad, maybe New York or London. Given that London was not too far from home, I chose to move to London by succesfully applying to Queen Mary University.
Studying at CCLS was an unforgettable and very informative experience. The international environment that CCLS brings you into contact with as a student, contributes enormously to your personal development. You get to know people from all over the world, people who have another culture, another religion, speak another language. Studying at CCLS has contributed significantly to my professional career because it has taught me principles based on the common law system. Also, the approach during classes was completely different from what I was used to. The professors were very interactive and treated you as an individual rather than a number.
I am absolutely grateful for the opportunity that Queen Mary has given me to shape myself into the person I am today. Today I am successfully working as an associate in the private equity department of the largest and most renowned law firm in Luxembourg. Without my perseverance, my parents and also Queen Mary, I would not have been here today.
I truly advise everyone to study here and to make unforgettable memories in the most beautiful city in Europe!
