CCLS China, Indonesia and Italy Alumni Chapters held a Focus Group Discussion on Artificial Intelligence in Digital Economy
The inaugural collaborative webinar on "Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Economy from a Legal, Policy, and Social Science Perspective" was presented on May 19, 2022, jointly by the CCLS China, Indonesia and Italy Chapters.
The event was attended by CCLS alumni and current students from the UK, China, Indonesia, Italy and Turkey.
This international event was hosted by Ms Ayu Mawar Rini (Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM, 2020), Lawyer at Mahendra& Co Law Firm and CCLS Indonesia Chapter Committee. Dr Sezen Kama-Isik (Human Rights Law LLM, 2013), Assistant Professor of Istanbul Medeniyet University - Faculty of Law and Alumni Ambassador of Turkey in 2014- 2022, acted as event moderator and addressed the closing remarks.
The first speaker – Dr Armstrong Sheng Chen (Banking and Finance Law LLM, 2010), Partner of China DENTONS Law Offices, discussed AI, Data Protection, Data Compliance and its relevance issues in China. Then, Mr Firdausi Firdaus (Computer and Communication Law LLM, 2013) from the University of Barcelona, Co-Lead Chair of CCLS Indonesia Chapter and Lead Country Alumni Ambassadors QMUL Indonesia provided insights of deployment of AI technology from law and a multidisciplinary approach in Indonesia. Finally, Dr Alessandro Stiano, adjunct professor in international organizations at the University of Naples Federico II spoke about artificial intelligence and investment law from Italy, the EU and international law perspectives.
The informative and comparative webinar concluded with a Q&A Session and closing remarks.
Many of the attendees expressed their appreciation and gave positive feedback, including those who were unable to join the webinar, already asking for a recording link to watch. Ms Ayu Mawar Rini expressed her appreciation to CCLS alumni, “I am very delighted to support one of the biggest CCLS Chapter events. The topic was rich, creating an active and focused group discussion. My colleagues were interested in the topic that Queen Mary brought to society, as it offers a comparative approach that is applicable for the future data protection implementation in Indonesia”.
