Konstantina Zivla won the QM Bar association’s essay prize, with her essay on Euthanasia Legalisation.
The essay argued against legalisation of euthanasia, taking, in her words ‘A more conservative, paternalistic approach’ to the topic than was expected. Fundamental to her arguments were the International Human Rights Law and Mental Health law modules she took during her LLM. On her winning essay, she said:
“It was published to the QM Bar Society’s annual journal, and I was congratulated by the Bar Society’s members, among those being Sarabjit Singh QC (counsellor and barrister of the 1 Crown Office Row Chambers). He emailed me expressing me his excitement for my well-documented essay argumentation and legislative analysis.
This award equipped me with the necessary confidence to continue my journey in the legal pathway and have ambitions for further development (academic and personal)”.
