Marilena has recently secured an internship in an International Arbitration Boutique law firm in Paris.
This is what Marilena (International Business Law LLM, Paris, 2022) said about her new role: “After completing my one-year LLM program in International Business Law, I was offered the opportunity to start an Internship in an International Arbitration Boutique law firm in Paris in December 2021. Honlet Legum Arbitration Boutique, is a recently launched firm, founded by Jean-Christophe Honlet and Barton Legum, former partners, and co-heads of the international arbitration group of the firm Dentons. Already working for several months, I can admit that it is a challenging and an everyday learning experience. My role involves a variety of duties, such as conducting legal research, drafting submissions and documents and attending hearings, where I have the change to witness arbitration practitioners.
Of course, Queen Mary, played an important role for the position I am found to be right now. During this academic year, I learnt the fundamental theoretical concepts and legal framework both in international commercial arbitration and in investment treaty arbitration. During my internship, having a strong theoretical knowledge, allows me to have a deeper understanding of the subjects I am called to deal with and to interpret any practical implementation.
If I could give one advice to the future candidates, this would be to be persistent in their career goals and have faith in themselves. Looking for a first job can be a laborious and stressful procedure and you can easily get discouraged and distracted. Thus, having both a positive attitude and outlook is extremely important in achieving your goals, while simultaneously laying the foundations for success.”
