Utkarsha Nikam has recently spoken on a panel at the Youth Marketing Strategy Conference in London about the future of work.
YMS LDN 2022 is the world’s leading youth marketing conference. Appearing on the ‘Gen Z takeover: What we want from work’ panel, Utkarsha shared her insights into the legal career that she balances with her content creation to an audience of marketers, agencies, nonprofits, and universities. This is what Utkarsha said about her speaking engagement:
“Having collaborated and represented various campaigns for brands as well as giving guest lectures all over India - I was approached to speak at the YMS London 2022 conference to share my journey. Social media has been an integral part of my life and I am using it to influence and educate people in my best capacity.
YMS stands for Youth Marketing Strategy, it was a conference wherein speakers from various industries, inspiring leaders, and industry experts were invited to speak about their personal journey in the era of digital globalisation and how personal branding affects every aspect of their respective industry.
I spoke about my background in Law in India, my work experience as a Real Estate Lawyer, and my journey as an LLM student with QMUL.
As a lawyer, I've had the opportunity to help people in a variety of ways. I've worked on cases that have had a positive impact on people's lives, and I've also been able to use my knowledge to write articles and create content that helps people understand the law. I've delivered 10+ webinars to 200+ law students all over India. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed.
I'm often asked how I made it in the law, and my answer is always the same: hard work and determination. If you want something badly enough, you'll find a way to make it happen. Of course, there have been challenges along the way. But I believe that law is a career where women can truly thrive. We bring a different perspective to the table, and we are slowly but surely breaking down barriers.
There is a quote that says ‘The future depends on what you do in the present’ so I tend to focus on the now to create a better future for myself and others. My goals remain to continue to mentor and support the Journeys of others to ensure that the legal profession continues to be representative of the people we serve.”
