The TMT Law Institute at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies invited Rodney Ryder to share his expertise with the CCLS community.

Published:

Rodney is the Founding Partner of Scriboard, a full-service commercial law firm with cutting edge specialisation in technology, new media and intellectual property laws. He gave a presentation followed by a panel discussion and audience questions.

Panelists:
- Nikhil Naren (Technology, Media and Telecommunications LLM, 2021), Author of 'Artificial Intelligence and Law: Challenges Demystified'
- Professor Julia Hörnle, Chair of Internet Law at CCLS

Julia said: “Rodney Ryder the founding partner of Scriboard gave a fascinating talk about Ethics & Regulation of Artificial Intelligence, followed by a panel discussion with CCLS Professors Chris Reed, Laura Edgar and me. The talk identified the tricky question of comparison between human and data intelligence and how to deal with bias and unfairness, as well as whether outputs or inputs should be regulated, autonomy & data protection as well as design models for regulation such as product liability and standards.

We were pleased to welcome LLM students and alumni and had a lively and stimulating discussion with an audience of 26. Food for thought on a Wednesday lunchtime (England)/early evening (India). Thanks to all participants“
