Nova is the global top-talent community that connects high-potentials with each other and with the best professional opportunities. Chiara Treglia (Commercial and Corporate Law LLM, 2023) said that she feels extremely grateful for this nomination and lucky to have had the chance to go the extra mile during her academic and professional path, thanks to the support of her family and loved ones. She hopes to pursue her dream of becoming a dual-qualified lawyer (Solicitor in England and Wales and Avvocato in Italy) and a professor, working at an international level. To that end, the nomination made her honoured as it represents a recognition of her endless ambition and spirit of abnegation.

Fluent in four languages (Italian, English, French and Spanish), keen on water sports, volunteering, and Commercial and Corporate Law, Chiara currently works as Trainee Lawyer at the Rome office of the Law Firm Ughi e Nunziante, while pursuing a Ph.D. in Law and Business at Luiss Guido Carli (Rome).

Her motto has consistently been “just go beyond, both in terms of time and space”.

She has tried to go beyond every time limit, specifically by graduating in Business Law and Economics one year earlier than the prescribed study plan at Luiss Guido Carli (Rome), in 2021, with a final grade of 110/110 cum laude. She was already working in law firms while studying, thus acquiring great time-management skills and complementing theoretical knowledge with professional practice. Even though she is only 24, Chiara has about three years of working experience in the in the business litigation and ADR area. The last mentioned is one of her biggest passions, mainly because litigation and ADR combine research and intellectual curiosity. Working in the mentioned field requires the practitioner to study with attention and research on every subject matter of the litigation itself, which allows her to never stop learning. It also entails being able to see reality from multiple perspectives, i.e. those of the parties involved, and developing the ability to communicate a given vision to the counterparty and the judge/jury in a functional and effective way.

For what concerns spatial boundaries, Chiara tried to cross them when, as an undergraduate law student, she joined a Summer School Program at Columbia University in New York in 2020 and an Erasmus Program at the University of Copenhagen in 2021. Against this backdrop, in January 2023, she obtained an LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law at Queen Mary University of London with Distinction. The academic path at Queen Mary has been an occasion of both personal and professional growth. In fact, she struck up life lasting friendships with people from all over the world, in an environment where cultural exchange and mutual respect are the key. From an academic point of view, during her studies at Queen Mary, Chiara had the invaluable opportunity to dive into common law, which was extremely helpful with a view to studying for the SQE 1, both parts of which she cleared in July 2023. Furthermore, she won a research bursary at Queen Mary, which allowed her to collaborate with unrivalled professors, who passed on the passion of research to her.

It was thanks to this last-mentioned experience that Chiara started exploring the option of an academic career, thus winning a Ph.D. bursary at Luiss Guido Carli.

"We'll look forward to seeing what’s next!" concludes Chiara.
