Şimal Efsane Yalçın-Erdoğan (Laws LLM, 2017) is currently a visiting lecturer and doctoral candidate at King’s College London, who previously studied Masters in Law at Queen Mary University of London, CCLS in 2018. Her research area focuses on public procurement, climate change, just transition, and energy law.
Recently, she was selected as one of the Congress Future Energy Leaders by World Energy Council, nominated by the local chapter as part of FEL-100 programme. As a Congress Future Energy Leader, Şimal will have access to a range of opportunities, including networking events, peer conversations, and exposure to the Council's energy transition leadership tools. The Future Energy Leaders platform supports and promotes young professionals who share a commitment to addressing the urgent need to humanise energy. This global impact community aims to ensure a clear focus on work that delivers practical and interactive outputs in line with the Council’s mission and vision.
The FEL-100 programme of the Council is a significant effort towards achieving just transition, which emphasizes the importance of a fair and equitable shift to a low-carbon economy that addresses the social and economic impacts of climate change, while supporting sustainable development. The energy sector plays a vital role in promoting resilient and sustainable communities as we move towards a low-carbon future. Needless to say, a fair and equitable transition not only helps to build support for climate action, but it also creates a more sustainable and just future for everyone.
